SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

For a free evaluation and estimate, please contact us at and we'll reply with a formal request that you submit either your entire manuscript, or a few sample pages and a word count of your manuscript. We offer a sample of our services upon request.

We prefer manuscripts with one-inch margins on all sides, double-spaced, with courier or new courier font no smaller than twelve-pitch, and no more than 26 lines per page. This is what the majority of publishers prefer as well. This format provides space for notations on your manuscript so it will be easier for you to read our handwritten comments. It's to your advantage to prepare your manuscript this way. The most critical issues within a manuscript cannot be marked on margins, such as focus and consistency.

There are questions to address in most every manuscript. Character balance, time lines, details that should have been inserted but were missed, causing confusion, etc. If you chose to email your manuscript, please use RICH TEXT FORMAT (.rtf). Balliett Editorial Services currently accepts novels and novellas, works-in-progress and short stories. We will accept poetry, articles, book proposals, query letters, also, on a flat fee scale. Email us for fees.

We accept manuscripts via email or in hard copy by snail mail, and glad to accept works of any length, preferably as an email attachment in Rich Text Format (.rtf).

We will give you a free estimate of how many hours it will take to do the work you need and the final cost. Along with your manuscript or sample pages, please let us know more about your work with a cover letter including its genre, your writing and/or publishing background, your concerns about the work and what you specifically want and need. We want to fulfil your individual expectancy of your personalized editorial service(s).

Typical concerns are: Rejection letters received, storyline and plot, genre and cross-genres, characters and dialogue, sentence and chapter structure, and sometimes writer's block, just to list a few examples.

After you've received your free evaluation and estimate, and choose to continue using editorial services, Balliett Editorial Services will require that you pay half up-front, and half upon completion of the job. We accept payment via PayPal and money order via snail mail.
